, Texas at San Antonio begins a new path, joining the FBS ranks in 2012. They aren\'t considered an official FBS program until 2013 and won\'t be eligible for a bowl game until 2014, but will still Hawaii Football Jersey be a member of the WAC for all intents and purposes in 2012, before moving on to Conference USA next year.
Head coach Larry Coker led the Roadrunners to a 4-6 record in his first season on the job. Three of those defeats, however, came by just three points and they could have easily turned those losses into wins.
Offense
Last season, the Roadrunners averaged 26.6 points and 364.5 yards per game with a balanced offensive attack.
Junior dual-threat quarterback Eric Soza is one of nine returning offensive starters. He completed 56 percent of his passes for 2,148 yards with 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 2011, while also finishing second on the team with 285 rushing yards.
Soza will have his entire arsenal of receivers back, including sophomore Kam Jones, who lead the team with 881 all-purpose yards last season.
This unit returns five of its top six rushers at running back, including junior Evans Okotcha, who led the team with 326 rushing yards. Sophomore David Glasco II will also help carry the load.
Experience shouldn\'t be an issue on offense as they have nearly all the key pieces coming back. Six linemen with starting experience from last year returns up front. The better defenses in the WAC will test this squad however, as they face much tougher competition moving forward.
Defense
Nine starters return from a stop unit that was pretty good last season. Hawaii Football Jersey The Roadrunners held their opponents to an average of 21.4 points on 338.5 yards per game.
This unit was especially good against the run, allowing 126.2 yards per game on the ground, and forced opposing offenses to make a ton of mistakes. The Roadrunners took advantage of every miscue and turned them into points, coming up with 21 turnovers and converting 15 of those into points. We will see how good this run defense really is, as it will face mostly FBS opponents after not facing a single one last year.
The front four on defense is anchored by senior end Marlon Smith, who led the team with eight sacks a year ago.
Senior Brandon Reeves and junior Hawaii Football Jersey Steven Kurfehs should return to their linebacker posts in Coker\'s 4-2-5 defense. Reeves and Kurfehs were number one and two in stops last season as they had 68 and 61, respectively.
Four starters return to a defensive backfield that helped hold opponents to 212.3 passing yards per game a year ago.
WAC Prediction: 7th Place
Texas at San Antonio will have an opportunity to win each of its first four games; against South Alabama, Texas A&M-Commerce, Georgia State and Northwest Oklahoma State. They faced South Alabama and Georgia State in overtime thrillers last year, where they lost to South Alabama and defeated Georgia State.
